SYNOPSIS

Removes a printer from the specified computer.

SYNTAX

Remove-Printer [-Name] [-CimSession ] [-ComputerName ] [-PassThru]

DESCRIPTION

The Remove-Printer cmdlet deletes a printer from the specified computer. You can specify the printer to remove by

using either a printer object retrieved by Get-Printer, or by specifying a printer name.

You can use wildcard characters with Remove-Printer. You can use Remove-Printer in a Windows PowerShell remoting

session.

You do not need administrator credentials to run Remove-Printer.

PARAMETERS

-CimSession []

Runs the cmdlet in a remote session or on a remote computer. Enter a computer name or a session object, such

as the output of a New-CimSession or Get-CimSession cmdlet. The default is the current session on the local

-ComputerName []

Specifies the maximum number of concurrent operations that can be established to run the cmdlet. If this parameter is omitted or a value of 0 is entered, then Windows PowerShellr calculates an optimum throttle limit for the cmdlet based on the number of CIM cmdlets that are running on the computer. The throttle limit applies only to the current cmdlet, not to the session or to the computer. OUTPUTS

By default, this cmdlet produces no output.

Example 1: Remove a specific printer

PS C:\> Remove-Printer -Name "Microsoft XPS Document Writer"

This command removes the printer named Microsoft XPS Document Writer from the local computer.

Example 2: Remove a specific printer using a printer object

PS C:\>$Printer = Get-Printer -Name "Microsoft XPS Document Writer"

PS C:\> Remove-Printer -InputObject $Printer

The first command gets the printer named Microsoft XPS Document Writer by using the Get-Printer cmdlet. The

command stores the result in the $Printer variable.

The second command removes the printer in $Printer.
